Ok- just back from 3 week Indo trip. Ordered this Curve Armourdillo in 6"3 for my 6'1" performance fish and a Curve Travel Coffin Bag in 7"6" for my 7'4 for my Roger Hinds Pipe Step up Gun. I had one week until the plane flight, so I ordered direct from Curve w a follow up email. I have to say, the handholding during a stressful period and incredible customer service was so fricken nice! You dont get this type of service anymore! I love you guys! I bought a roll of 2" wide 30ft roll of Velcro strap from Amazon w clips for $9 same day I ordered the bags. (Discuss later) I shoved my fish in the Armourdillo bag and zipped it up after locking the tail in the cool velcro support on the inside of bag. Then I put some Home Depot pipe insulation (pool noodle) on the nose and tail of my 7'4" gun (secured by duct tape). I then cut 3 lengths of 2" velcro strap and tied it around both the uncovered gun and the now covered Armourdillo fish bag w the board inside (obviously). I now had two boards sandwiched tightly together w velcro in center, at mid front, and at mid rear (3 straps holding the two sandwiched decks- no fins: 1 gun bare w pipe insulation sandwiched to my 6'1" fin in the bag) I then packed the Curve coffin bag with all of my clothes- stacked about 3 garments deep about 8 stacks in total for about 25 pieces of boardshorts, t-shirts, pants, tanks etc using the awesome sectioned off velcro isolated gear compartment... this feature is super cool and acts to protect the bottom of my Roger Hinds gun in travel as well as eliminating the need for another gear bag on a long ass trip with many ferry boat transfers and jumping in the water at remote islands off the transom of various boats. (The grab handles and shoulder strap came in super handy as well). Following packing the gear compartment I secured and sealed off the clothes area with the velcro stitched to the inside of the coffin, and slid my 2 velcro sandwiched decks in to the coffin. They fit perfectly- even w my extra pipe insulation taped to the nose and tail of the gun and the 6'3" Armourdillo bag, which after wrapped w velcro conveniently wrapped that 3/4" inch rail padding on the Armourdillo around both the fish AND the gun!! What luck!! I then used the strategic placed velcro "burrito wrap" enclosures as tight as I could and it literally formed the entire assembly into an Italian like fitted suit of armor with a total of probably 1" of protected foam around my prized decks! Provided on the coffin bag are two adjustable nylon strap enclosures... but I didnt stop there! I took two more lengths of 2" velcro strap and strapped the nose and tail of the entire assembly as well. The total assemble of the coffin travel bag with my 7'4 gun and 6'1 performance fish wrapped inside the Armourdillo litterly looked like it was shrinkwrapped- it was that tight of a system! I was amazed! I came out at a total weight of 28 kilos and about 7'6" in total length and width of 25". Why is this important? Because airlines are a pain in the ass and 7'4" boards are really stretching the limits if you want to avoid fees. Hint fly Singapore Air if you can! Why did I spend this much time on a review? I don't write reviews; I was just so damned impressed with this whole system, the design, the quality, the customer service.... it just made my whole 3 week bucket list trip to 4 islands an absolute dream and pleasure! Not only that, but I forgot to mention, I fit the sling they gave me in the bag easily as well and that thing is more than valuable once you have your gear situated and are taking small boats to various breaks or slamming into a surf rack on a rented scooter on island! It has a shoulder sling and a grab handle! It also has a vented drip compartment for your wetsuit/rashy, leashes and fins- all your day essentials so no backpack needed!!...........So key for such a small piece of equipment... I just had soooo many options while hopping boats and commuting between islands- it was friggin amazing! I dont know these guys at Curve, but I have many patents on the many products I've developed and manufactured over the last 35 years, and I had to take the time to write this review as - these guys made the ABSOLUTE BEST BOARDBAG SYSTEM ON THE MARKET !!! Hands down, beats every day bag, every travel bag, every coffin bag- period. Left some photos to show how to rig - best darn travel combo ever!! Enjoy guys! My decks came back in perfect shape after many airport transfers and 20+ hour flights as well as 15+ ferry boat transfers and rides, with 3 weeks of scooter travels etc... this 3 part system cannot be beat at any price in my humble opinion! Thank you CURVE!!! : )
